The countdown is ON for Desmond's birthday and BJ and I are not-so-patiently waiting. Seriously, the last few weeks feel like months. We are ready and so is his room! I knew when planning his nursery I wanted something different. BJ and I threw around a couple different ideas, including a Beatles theme, and finally settled on a British Themed Nursery. That way, we could incorporate all the things we loved, Beatles, traveling, and our love of London!
I don't think I've ever been let down by Pinterest before, but it was absolutely no help in this case! Apparently, a British nursery theme isn't all that common. It all started with these Union Jack drawer handles.
BJ and I found these cute knobs at World Market in the clearance bin before we were even sure what are theme was going to be. Our entire nursery was built around them!
We added them to this vintage desk I found in KC at a antique warehouse. Once I found one that would fit a changing pad, it was easy to clean up. Above the changing table, I wanted easy access storage for diapers, wipes, and also a place to display special trinkets and momentos.
Like these mini boxing gloves BJ hung in his first car, and a Buckingham Palace ornament my sister brought us back from London.
I found the crib and the rug at Wayfair on sale. With so much white in the room, I wanted more touches of wood. The crib was also a perfect match to the changing table desk I had already found.
A sheep skin rug from Ikea was a must, obviously. Check out that diaper pale! My sweet friend spotted it at TJ Maxx and I raced over to snag it before anyone else could. Luckily for me, there wasn't a line out the door for a phone booth trashcan.
We also found this rocker at TJ Maxx. It's a little over the top, and not entirely practical, but we loved it and thought it fit in with our room perfectly. When I found it I messaged my friend asking her if she thought the baby would poop on a white rocking chair. Her response.. "Why is your baby sitting naked on your rocker? Put a diaper on him!" Touche my friend.
We had to incorporate some Beatles somewhere into the room. After all, Desmond is named after a Beatles song! I made these cute clothes organizers for his closet.
Lastly, this British themed mobile. BJ came across it on Etsy and we couldn't resist. It was definitely a splurge, but worth it. We opted to hang it from the ceiling using a hook and fishing line rather than getting a mobile crib attachment.
Anytime Desmond, we are ready!
