Galena, Illinois

Is there anything better than a day trip full of brunching, sight-seeing, and shopping? I don't think there is; which is exactly why me and my fella try to do this as often as possible! Last weekend, we woke up early and headed toward Galena, Illinois for the day.

After returning home from a gig, my husband raved about this unique town. He insisted on a day trip, convinced I would love it. He was right. We found a town that was bustling with life due to the upcoming halloween parade. The town is nestled in the hills with steep stairwells and old world charm.

Our first stop was of course, brunch at Vinny Vanucchi's, otherwise known as "little Italy."

I'll admit I wasn't expecting much, but I was quickly proven wrong and it's safe to say, I think it was the best Italian I have ever had in my life. The Bruchetta was mouthwatering, the chicken was grilled to perfection, and don't even get me started on the homemade parmesan garlic bread.

Bellies full, we headed out to explore more of the scenery and all the small nooks and crannies.

Talk about close neighbors....

I'm loving this sleeveless trench for fall! I got mine at Bennie C's Boutique.

After exhausting ourselves climbing up and down the hilly streetscape, we decided to slow down a bit and get some shopping in on the main street.

A girl can't ever have to many pairs of shoes, right?

As the sun started to set, the streets became more crowded and we popped into a candy store for some chocolate and to get out of the way.

We spent our last few minutes of daylight enjoying our chocolate away from the crowds in the park across the way.

It was a day full of great food, beautiful streetscapes, and lots of giggling.
